Job Description
This full-time, on-site senior developer job is listed for the United Kingdom and works on the core and infrastructure side of Elasticsearch at Elastic. The team builds the shared platform features that keep the engine simple to use, fast, maintainable and secure. Its scope includes services, settings, scripting, the plugin model and the Painless scripting language, along with the logging and telemetry that make the engine observable. The group also orchestrates Elasticsearch in serverless environments and manages the CI/CD workflows used to deliver the product to serverless, cloud and self-managed customers.
The role is an individual contributor position with a leadership element, since the developer helps drive projects that span several teams. The ideal person is comfortable close to the codebase's low-level details and also lead technical conversations with a range of collaborators. Responsibilities include designing new scalable APIs and features, handling difficult performance and concurrency issues, and making cloud operations more transparent and easier to run.
The developer works in the open with the Elasticsearch group, customers and open source projects, and helps support engineers with harder problems. Ownership extends to operational investigations until the performance or stability problem is fully addressed. The listing gives a typical starting base range of CAD 128,300 to CAD 203,000, notes there is no variable pay, and says the role is eligible for Elastic's stock program. It also describes an employer-matched RRSP retirement savings account, with matching up to 6 percent of eligible earnings.
