In this position, the legal lead will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer, direct the in-house legal budget, and oversee a part-time legal counsel. Responsibilities encompass drafting and negotiating diverse commercial agreements, steering corporate governance, acting as the internal legal lead for fundraising initiatives, and representing the organization in trade associations to help define industry standards.

Responsibilities
- Manage the entire contract lifecycle for vendor, supplier, offtake, and customer agreements
- Lead legal workstreams focused on structuring carbon credits into an institutional asset class
- Serve as the internal legal representative for fundraising rounds, corporate governance, and shareholder matters
- Select and supervise external law firms
- Direct the internal and external legal budget
- Oversee corporate compliance regarding employment law and data protection
- Supervise and mentor a part-time legal counsel
- Develop internal playbooks, templates, and procedures for routine legal inquiries
Requirements
- Possess at least 8 years of professional legal experience gained in-house, at a law firm, or a combination of both
- Demonstrate deep expertise in German commercial and contract law alongside practical B2B transaction negotiation experience
- Show extensive knowledge of German corporate law
- Bring hands-on experience handling financing rounds, M&A, or similar transactions including signing and closing processes
- Communicate fluently in both written and spoken German and English at a level sufficient for drafting and negotiation
Qualifications
- Familiarity with German capital markets law
- Prior exposure to European financial regulators such as FINMA, BaFin, or the ECB
- Background working in commodities, banking, financial market infrastructure, or carbon markets
