Job Description

Elite provides software that automates the back office of law firms, combining finance, invoicing, time tracking and data in one cloud platform. The company says its embedded AI, forecasting tools and built-in payments help firms bill faster and write off less. This Senior Legal Counsel position reports to the General Counsel and covers deals, product questions, compliance, privacy and corporate affairs company-wide.

The counsel writes, reviews and negotiates a wide mix of contracts, spanning buyer and supplier deals, alliance and license terms, SaaS subscriptions, plus NDAs and routine paperwork. The role also works with business teams to standardize forms, templates and negotiating playbooks so deals close faster. Supporting the compliance program and its policies is part of the job, as is advising commercial and product staff on regulatory questions.

Privacy and AI are major areas. The counsel advises on data protection and security law, keeps up with changing rules, and weighs legal and risk questions raised by the company's use of artificial intelligence. That includes helping draft internal AI use policies and recommending legal technology, such as contract management systems and AI-assisted drafting tools, that make the legal team faster. Corporate governance and intellectual property work also come up as needed.

The posting requires a J.D. from an accredited law school, active bar membership, and five to seven years of practice, including at least three to four years in-house at a SaaS or technology company. Remote work is offered to people located in the US who can cover several US time zones. The base salary is USD 153,000 to 170,000 plus a variable component. The company does not sponsor work authorization for this role.

  • Support corporate governance and intellectual property matters as needed.

Requirements

  • A Juris Doctor earned at an accredited law school, with a current license to practice in good standing.

  • Fast uptake of emerging tools and legal technology products.
