OpenZeppelin seeks a Senior Legal Counsel to join its operations team as a full-time, remote employee. Founded in 2015, the company provides security standards and tools for onchain finance, supporting major institutions and digital asset teams across the development lifecycle. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, this lawyer will manage legal operations, drive commercial contracting, and advise a global tech enterprise on various legal matters.

Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, and close various vendor and client agreements while managing the overall commercial contracting workflow
- Provide risk-weighted guidance to business leaders that balances commercial goals against operational, financial, and legal risks
- Partner with the General Counsel on intellectual property strategy, licensing with an emphasis on open source issues, compliance, and corporate acquisitions
- Collaborate cross-functional teams including Sales, Finance, Operations, HR, and IT and Security
- Build and execute automated contracting processes utilizing AI and advanced tools
- Design and deliver staff training and compliance practices suited for a regulated and publicly-traded organization
- Manage corporate governance procedures and legal records across multiple jurisdictions
Requirements
- Possess eight to ten years of relevant legal experience, featuring in-house tenure at a high-growth blockchain or digital assets company
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements within the blockchain sector
- Bring expertise regarding open source issues and intellectual property
- Hold a law degree and a license to practice law in a minimum of one jurisdiction
