Job Description
Gusto operates a platform serving more than 500,000 small businesses nationwide by handling payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and human resources functions. The company maintains offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York.
Gusto seeks an experienced data science leader for a full-time, hybrid Senior Manager, Head of Sales Data Science & Analytics position based in San Francisco. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the sales analytics team, which generates insights, forecasting tools, and measurement infrastructure for acquiring, expanding, and retaining revenue. The position requires a combination of strategic planning and hands-on execution.
The successful candidate will address technical debt in the existing sales data foundation by partnering closely with data engineering to build scalable systems. Simultaneously, this leader will shift the analytics function away from routine query fulfillment toward advanced forecasting, causal inference, and rigorous statistical analysis. The role also involves leveraging AI-driven tools to support self-service analytics for operations teams and developing staff toward strategic analytical thinking.
This opportunity suits an analytics professional with extensive management experience who is comfortable navigating messy data environments, collaborating with cross-functional executives, and applying quasi-experimental methods when controlled experiments are not feasible.
