EvenUp is seeking a remote Senior Manager, Lien Negotiation to establish and direct the company's lien resolution division. This full-time position suits an experienced leader who can oversee the complete lifecycle of medical liens and subrogation claims, ensuring clients achieve maximum net recovery on their settlements. EvenUp builds technology and artificial intelligence products designed to assist personal injury attorneys and victims in securing rapid settlements and superior case outcomes.
In this role, the selected candidate will lead a team of negotiators, define strategies for complex and high-value claims, and collaborate closely with legal, financial, and case management departments. Responsibilities include resolving disputes, establishing operational workflows, maintaining compliance with healthcare recovery regulations, and managing provider relationships. The ideal applicant combines extensive negotiation expertise in personal injury or subrogation environments with a proven background in staff mentorship and operational scaling.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate reductions on medical provider liens, hospital bills, letters of protection, health insurer plans, ERISA claims, Medicare, Medicaid, and MedPay subrogation claims
- Handle pre-settlement funding loan reductions and child support liens
- Develop reduction strategies factoring in governing laws, case values, policy limits, and procurement costs
- Manage high-dollar, contested, or escalated lien matters personally
- Hire, mentor, and supervise lien negotiators and support staff while tracking metrics like average reduction percentages and open inventory
- Ensure strict compliance with Medicare Secondary Payer rules, Medicaid recovery statutes, state hospital lien regulations, and trust accounting requirements
- Partner with finance to secure accurate settlement statements, manage lien holds, and execute timely disbursements
- Maintain relationships with medical providers, government agencies, third-party recovery vendors, and lien-purchasing companies
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in lien resolution, subrogation, or settlement negotiation within a plaintiff-side or personal injury setting
- At least 3 years of experience managing or leading a team
- Demonstrated track record of securing major lien reductions across multiple lien categories
- Working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid recovery, ERISA plans, and state lien doctrines
- Proficiency with case management software and Excel or similar reporting tools
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree, paralegal certification, or equivalent legal training
- Prior background working in a high-volume personal injury law firm or a lien resolution company
- Familiarity with medical billing, CPT/ICD coding, personal injury protection statutes, and reasonable-value analysis
- Experience building or scaling a dedicated lien department
