Job Description
FORTNA designs and delivers distribution operations for omnichannel retail and parcel networks, pairing automated equipment with intelligent software. It is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Engineer, a role listed as remote, to lead mechanical engineering on complex conveyor and material handling projects, from concept through installation.
The engineer runs the mechanical side of medium to large projects and serves as the primary mechanical technical contact for customers, project teams, suppliers and field crews. The work includes checking project scope, customer specifications and contract terms, examining systems, 3D models and buildability, and resolving technical or install-stage problems.
The engineer sets up engineering schedules aligned with milestones and installation timing, handles change orders, material requisitions and drawing issue releases, and coordinates with the project office, electrical designers, procurement, fabrication shops and install crews. Coaching Project Engineers and designers, checking drawings for quality, and driving continuous-improvement efforts are also part of the job.
The posting asks for a four-year engineering degree, ideally mechanical, or equivalent education and applicable experience, plus six to ten years in material handling or conveyor engineering and experience leading mid-size to large engineering projects. AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor skills are required; Navisworks, BIM and Microsoft Project are useful. Travel is roughly 10 percent domestically. No salary is stated.
