M365Connect is currently seeking a Senior Mobile & Platform Engineer to join the team on a full-time, long-term basis. The company is building a mobile application that integrates physical-world interactions with location and proximity technologies. In this role, the selected engineer will span Android and iOS development, Kotlin Multiplatform architecture, backend services, databases, and infrastructure. This position requires establishing reliable development processes, supporting other mobile developers with technical blockers, and utilizing AI-assisted and agentic coding workflows to accelerate production.
The role suits an experienced engineer with a strong background in mobile client development, backend systems, DevOps practices, and AI coding tools. Depending on suitability and expertise, the position may also encompass technical team leadership responsibilities for the Android and iOS developers. Responsibilities
- Assist Android and iOS developers with technical decisions, code reviews, debugging, and integration obstacles
- Build and maintain shared application logic through Kotlin Multiplatform
- Contribute directly to native Android and iOS development when platform-specific tasks arise
- Oversee architecture across mobile apps, backend services, databases, and APIs
- Develop and maintain backend functionality and server-side integrations
- Handle database changes, investigate data problems, and manage backup, recovery, and migration processes
- Construct and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain GitHub runners, including self-hosted environments
- Enhance build reliability, automated testing, development environments, and deployment procedures
- Handle server-side application deployments, monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Set up AI-assisted and agentic coding workflows across the team and review AI-generated code for security and maintainability
- Mentor junior team members and guide developers in the effective use of AI tools
- Coordinate dependencies, guide implementation, and help resolve technical roadblocks if acting as technical lead
Requirements
- Demonstrated senior-level experience in mobile software development
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Android development alongside practical Swift and iOS experience
- Hands-on expertise with Kotlin Multiplatform and incorporating shared code into both mobile operating systems
- Practical backend development background with sound understanding of API design, authentication, and application security
- Extensive SQL and relational database experience covering schema modifications, migrations, and performance debugging
- Hands-on DevOps experience involving Linux servers, application deployment, configuration, and operational troubleshooting
- Comprehensive knowledge of Git and GitHub workflows, pull requests, code reviews, and repository configuration
- Substantial experience with GitHub Actions and setting up and running GitHub runners
- Extensive background utilizing AI coding assistants and coding agents to deliver functional software
- Ability to work independently while constructively supporting fellow developers
- Availability to begin promptly following agreement acceptance
Qualifications
- Prior experience working as a senior engineer or technical lead supporting a mobile development team
- Familiarity with location and proximity technologies such as GPS, BLE, UWB, or NFC
- Experience testing mobile applications on physical devices to research platform-specific behavior
- Background in container-based application deployment and reproducible development environments
- Experience with monitoring, incident diagnosis, and maintaining reliable backend services
- Ability to coordinate changes affecting mobile clients, backend APIs, and database structures simultaneously
