Job Description
Mural is hiring a Senior Product Manager, Data Products for a remote, full-time position with a salary range of USD 177,160 to 221,450 per year. This role operates within the Govern & Trust team, which builds security, governance, and administration features for enterprise organizations.
The position focuses on transforming how Mural utilizes and presents data, moving beyond simple reporting to guide future actions. The incoming product manager will define core metrics for activity, collaboration, and adoption, serving as a shared foundation across internal teams, customer dashboards, reporting APIs, and AI agent servers. Responsibilities span establishing event instrumentation standards with R&D, partnering with data engineering, and directing customer-facing insights strategies.
This role is well-suited for an experienced professional with a background in building both developer platforms and end-user analytics products. The ideal candidate has experience reconciling complex data, collaborating across departments without direct authority, and working with enterprise governance or admin tools.
Responsibilities
- Define shared cross-product metrics including activity, collaboration, and adoption standards
- Partner with R&D teams to establish per-product instrumentation requirements for granularity and retention
- Collaborate with Data Engineering on event standards and data modeling
- Act as a thought partner to domain product managers regarding north-star metrics and product data exploration
- Own the strategy and roadmap for Insights, including in-product reporting, exports, APIs, audit logs, and calculation methodologies
- Manage the launch and packaging of the customer-facing reporting MCP server, determining exposed data, plan access, and guardrails
- Work with Business Analytics to align product-facing and business-facing reporting
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of product management experience
- Experience shipping at least one analytics or reporting product utilized by paying business customers
- Experience defining underlying product metrics rather than just user interfaces
- Track record of transforming messy or conflicting data into trustworthy information through metric specifications and upstream instrumentation changes
- Experience building both platform products for internal teams or developers and end-user-facing data products
- Working knowledge of modern data stacks including event pipelines, data warehouses, lakehouses, dbt-style modeling, and semantic layers
- Ability to write SQL and query data independently
- Ability to secure agreement on metric definitions across unmanaged cross-functional teams
Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise admin or governance products such as IAM, security, compliance, or audit
- Hands-on experience utilizing semantic layer tools including dbt Semantic Layer, Cube, or LookML
- Experience designing APIs, MCP servers, or analytics connectors
