Job Description

FairMoney is a mobile banking enterprise founded in 2017 that focuses on delivering credit solutions to emerging markets, with primary operations in Nigeria. Backed by global investors such as Tiger Global, DST, and Flourish Ventures, the organization has raised nearly €50 million and employs a multicultural staff representing over 27 nationalities. The company provides a full suite of financial products, including current and savings accounts, debit cards, POS systems, and digital microcredit applications.

FairMoney is seeking a Senior Risk Analyst to manage a key credit-strategy workstream within the Android lending portfolio in Nigeria. This position goes beyond simple reporting and monitoring, functioning instead as a hands-on, P&L-impacting credit strategy role. The chosen professional will take full charge of assigned workstream performance, design optimization strategies, execute production controls, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.

This opportunity is ideal for professionals with extensive consumer credit risk experience who thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous settings and possess strong analytical capabilities. Candidates must be comfortable working remotely within a time zone that shares significant overlap with Central European Time.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end performance, monthly forecasts, budgets, and corrective actions of an assigned Android lending workstream.
  • Track and optimize metrics covering approval rates, disbursals, exposure, revenue, risk-adjusted Gross Profit, ECL, FPD, roll rates, PAR, NPL, customer value, and recoverability.
  • Design and enhance credit strategies involving eligibility, requalification, PD cut-offs, pricing, exposure limits, DTI, affordability, top-up options, and customer graduation logic.
  • Translate strategic recommendations into decision-engine rules, back-testing parameters, and production requirements while planning staged rollouts and monitoring.
  • Coordinate cross-functional delivery with engineering, product, finance, collections, fraud, compliance, legal, and customer service teams.
  • Mentor other analysts, document critical policies, and represent the workstream in senior-level forums.

Requirements

  • Four to seven or more years of professional experience in consumer credit risk, lending analytics, credit strategy, or portfolio management.
  • Demonstrated background in digital unsecured lending, credit cards, consumer finance, overdrafts, BNPL, or similar sectors.
  • Prior ownership of a significant credit-strategy workstream spanning analysis, implementation, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of metrics such as PD, LGD, EAD, vintages, roll rates, FPD, PAR, NPL, ECL, pricing, and NPV.
  • Proficiency in SQL alongside capability in Python, R, or comparable analytical software.
  • Ability to operate independently within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Twenty-five days of paid vacation in addition to sick leave and public holidays for business-to-business contractors.
  • Access to a dedicated training and development budget.
  • Paid company business trips.
