This role is well-suited for an experienced engineer who enjoys designing shared automation frameworks, validating API contracts, and troubleshooting system failures. The ideal candidate will take ownership of testing strategies, collaborate closely with developers, and establish dependable automated checks within continuous delivery pipelines. Responsibilities
- Design and maintain shared automation frameworks, internal services, and tools for engineering teams
- Manage test strategies and execution for backend APIs, microservices, and end-to-end workflows
- Build code-based automation frameworks featuring data-driven scenarios and isolated dependencies
- Verify business rules, data persistence, API contracts, authorization, and error handling
- Test distributed system failure scenarios, asynchronous processing, and delayed consistency
- Integrate reliable automated checks into continuous integration and delivery pipelines
- Troubleshoot deployment configurations and cloud services utilizing logs and telemetry data
- Assess resilience and performance risks while collaborating with engineers to resolve weaknesses
Requirements
- Six to eight years of overall software testing or engineering background
- At least three years of dedicated focus on backend APIs and service architectures
- Hands-on expertise in creating test automation frameworks and integrating them into delivery pipelines
- Proficiency in a general-purpose programming language for writing and debugging test code
- Deep familiarity with microservice interactions, API testing, and distributed application behavior
- Experience testing public cloud applications, including networking, storage, compute, and permissions
- Strong database querying abilities to trace data and failures across multiple services
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Background in property and casualty insurance domains such as billing, rating, policy administration, or claims
- Experience with event-driven architectures and complex integrations involving third parties
- Familiarity with performance, service-level security, and resilience testing
