Job Description
Clariti is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a remote team building community development software for local governments, including applications for licensing, permitting, plan review, and inspections. As part of an AI-native transformation, the engineering pods operate within an Agentic SDLC framework that utilizes coding agents, orchestration workflows, and evaluation harnesses to deliver software efficiently. In this role, you will work within a small, senior product engineering pod where your primary responsibility is to ship production features from specification to delivery. Rather than writing every single line of code manually, you will direct, review, and shape the output of coding agents while taking full accountability for end-to-end correctness, performance, security, and usability. This position suits experienced developers who are comfortable with high velocity and ambiguity, possess strong technical judgment, and want to help redefine how government software is built using AI-assisted development tools.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience shipping production web applications and working directly with coding agents, rather than just experimenting. Your daily tasks will involve authoring clear technical specifications, guiding coding agents to implement them, critically reviewing the generated code, and maintaining high quality standards suitable for municipal government operations. You will also collaborate with the Applied AI team to feed learnings back into the framework and deepen your understanding of the regulatory domains governing cities. Clariti provides a collaborative and inclusive culture that encourages continuous learning, customer focus, and direct communication.
Responsibilities
- Take features from specification through production delivery within the pod's agentic workflow
- Own end-to-end outcomes including correctness, performance, security, and user experience
- Write clear specifications and acceptance criteria to direct coding agents
- Critically review and iterate on code produced by coding agents without merging unexplained output
- Contribute feedback on workflows, frameworks, and agents to the Applied AI team
- Learn the domain rules surrounding permitting, licensing, plan review, and municipal operations
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience as a software developer shipping production web applications
- Deep fundamentals in API design, data modeling, testing, and cloud infrastructure
- Real experience building with coding agents and AI-assisted development tools in production
- Strong written communication skills for creating clear technical specs
- Habit of thoroughly reading, understanding, and verifying code you did not type
- Comfort with a fast-paced environment and a high degree of ambiguity
Qualifications
- Experience in government, civic, or other regulated software requiring auditability and accessibility
- Experience with permitting, land management, community development systems, or municipal operations
- Experience with eval-driven development or building evaluation harnesses for AI-generated code
Core Skills
Benefits
- Competitive compensation packages
- Paid time off and health benefits
- Base salary range between $103,000 and $160,000
