Job Description
SPINS is a retail data and analytics company serving the health and wellness and consumer goods markets. Its insights help clients understand values-driven shoppers, and its data supports AI and machine learning work. This Senior Software Engineer job is a full-stack role on the platform that ingests, enriches and distributes that data.
Engineers here build ingestion, ETL and large-data systems, plus APIs and web and mobile apps. The team values clean, testable code, quick failure and frequent refactoring, and expects engineers to handle both everyday and difficult technical and data problems. Tasks include building internal and customer-facing tools that work with AI models, moving and reshaping large data volumes, and automating repeated work. Squads rotate periodically, supporting both product priorities and personal growth.
Applicants need a bachelor's in computer science or a closely related area, or comparable hands-on work history. Candidates should be familiar with several of these: Java, Python, React or Node.js, be comfortable with REST or GraphQL interfaces and with relational, NoSQL or graph data stores, and have exposure to Google Cloud, AWS, Kubernetes or CI/CD tooling. Familiarity with AI integration tools is also listed. Background in consumer packaged goods is a plus, and test-driven development, automated releases and pair programming are strongly preferred.
