Job Description
Motional works on driverless vehicle technology and was launched by Hyundai Motor Group together with Aptiv. The company is based in Boston and maintains operations in the United States and Asia, aiming to make self-driving transport dependable and widely available. This Senior Software Engineer role sits on the Actions Sustaining team, which resolves urgent problems in the autonomous vehicle software stack.
The engineer digs into hard problems in the planning and control software, flagged by the triage group. This means reading logs and replaying simulated drives to uncover why the vehicle acted as it did. When the business needs a quick remedy, the engineer leads building, testing and rolling out the code change.
The role also involves building internal utilities that accelerate log review and automate repeated investigation steps, which helps the whole group work faster. The engineer serves as the link between issues observed on the road and the team's ongoing development plans, keeping everyone aligned.
The ideal applicant has at least three years of C++ engineering, particularly for high-performance and fault-tolerant systems, and is at ease working inside large, intricate and carefully documented code. A history of shipping production software with continuous integration, source control and disciplined release processes is important, along with an appreciation for the stakes when software controls physical machinery.

- Enthusiasm for a driverless future and a clear sense of what is at stake when software acts on physical machines
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD, preferred
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence and GitLab
- Background in ROS, DDS or other robotics middleware, or in autonomous systems
Core Skills
