Fanatics is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its Fanatics Core backend team, which maintains the Fanatics App. The app combines free-to-play games, live experiences, online shopping and new product features for sports fans. The parent business runs a digital sports platform spanning apparel, collectibles, and betting and gaming.
The engineer builds, tests, documents and releases dependable backend services that millions of monthly users depend on. Day-to-day tasks include delivering quality code to production, creating internal tools, serving in the on-call schedule, reviewing peers' code, joining design sessions, improving testability and operations metrics, and coaching junior developers and interns.
The engineer works with product colleagues to shape technical choices, helps set engineering standards, and tracks developments in the field. Some travel to Fanatics sites, conferences and team events may be required.
Applicants should have at least five years building large-scale, distributed backend systems and be proficient with Spring plus Kotlin or Java. Familiarity with observability, Agile delivery, clear communication across technical and business audiences, and a team-oriented approach in fast-changing settings are sought. Helpful extras include sports, gaming or content delivery backgrounds, Go, Kafka or Amazon SQS, and Kubernetes, Helm and Terraform. Responsibilities
- Develop, test, document and ship reliable software to production
- Build features and tooling for the team
- Join the on-call rotation to resolve production issues
- Review code and spread knowledge across the team

Requirements
- Five or more years building distributed backend systems that scale, perform well and evolve
