Job Description
The Senior Software Engineer for Big Data and Java takes part in every step of building software, from planning through release. The engineer converts business needs into working code, writes tidy and efficient programs, and uses scripts to automate repetitive work. Diagnosing faults in systems, running verification and validation tests in a test-first style, and reviewing colleagues' code are regular parts of the job, and the engineer also asks peers to check their own work.
Much of the role centers on large-scale data processing across distributed computing systems. The posting names Apache Hudi and Trino as core tools for big data, and expects the engineer to keep the team's software aligned with newer technologies. The engineer also coordinates with internal groups and outside suppliers to repair and enhance products.
The listing expects practical familiarity with engines such as Databricks, Trino, Beam, Flink, Kafka, Spark and Apache Hudi, and with storage layers such as ADLS, HDFS, S3 and DLT. Knowledge of how data is split into partitions and shards, and of distributed computing principles at scale, is required. Writing clean Python or Java code that performs well under load, working with relational databases, and building RESTful endpoints are expected.
Candidates should be fluent in Git and comfortable with monitoring products such as New Relic or DataDog. Strong organization, critical thinking and the ability to deliver with limited oversight are valued. The role is full time and hybrid. The posting requires bachelor's-level education in computer science or an adjacent field. It gives no salary and no office location.
