Bloomreach operates a personalization platform utilizing artificial intelligence, powering product discovery and conversational shopping for over 1,400 global brands. The organization is hiring a full-time Senior Software Engineer to join the Data Pipeline team. This position operates on a remote-first basis primarily within Central and Eastern Europe, with optional office spaces available in Bratislava, Brno, and Prague.
In this role, the engineer will work on high-volume data processing systems handling tens of thousands of requests per second. Responsibilities include building and supporting data pipelines, enhancing import throughput and reliability, implementing integrations with data storage, and configuring exports using Google Cloud Platform tools. The successful candidate will collaborate through peer code reviews following a strict four-eyes principle, start with self-contained projects, and eventually participate in on-call rotations to maintain production services.
Responsibilities
- Develop reliable, high-rate data pipelines processing tens of thousands of requests per second using Python, Go, MongoDB, and GCP
- Improve worker efficiency, monitoring infrastructure, and autoscaling capabilities
- Increase throughput and reliability for multi-million row data imports and storage integrations
- Export data from the platform to Google BigQuery utilizing Google DataFlows, PySpark, and Apache Beam
- Run and support high-volume production services using Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes
- Review peer code and submit own code for review adhering to the four-eyes principle
- Participate in on-call rotations to keep services operational
Requirements
- Experience with Python and solid engineering practices
- Experience with ETL pipelines and ingestion at scale across SQL and non-SQL sources
- Ability to perform data cleanup, sanitization, and transformation to load optimized storages
- Experience operating in a remote-first environment
- Ability to learn, adapt, and navigate an existing codebase
