In this capacity, you will concentrate on designing and implementing next-generation internal tools, distributed services, and agentic AI-driven workflows that assist hundreds of engineers company-wide. Responsibilities
- Collaborate across Reddit Engineering to discover developer needs, prototype solutions quickly, and refine them based on feedback.
- Design and construct backend services, infrastructure components, and platform features to enhance developer workflows.
- Develop scalable and dependable architectures for both AI-powered and traditional daily engineering workflows.
- Direct high-impact initiatives within the developer tooling ecosystem by authoring and reviewing code and design documents.
- Create integrations connecting developer pipelines with existing source control, CI/CD, security, deployment, and operational frameworks.
- Implement maintainable APIs, libraries, and platforms to support internal tooling demands at scale.
- Mentor fellow engineers and help establish a roadmap aligned with actual engineering requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of post-graduation, professional software engineering experience focusing on backend, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
- At least 3 years of industry background working on large-scale distributed systems and building reliable services.
- High proficiency in Go, including significant production usage.
- Experience designing and implementing maintainable APIs via REST, gRPC, HTTP, or GraphQL.
- Experience constructing platforms, internal systems, developer tools, libraries, or frameworks for other engineers.
- Familiarity with cloud providers, infrastructure, Kubernetes, or other systems supporting modern software delivery.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted developer tools and workflows.
Qualifications
- Background working in developer productivity, internal platforms, developer experience, or developer tooling.
- Experience building workflows or tools specifically for internal engineering users.
- Experience building or extending CI/CD systems alongside build, test, and release teams.
- Familiarity with GitHub Enterprise Server or large-scale source control ecosystems.
- Familiarity with Python.
