Job Description
Ebury is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Web Platform team in a freshly launched engineering hub based in Valencia. The role is hybrid, with four days in the office and one day at home each week. Ebury is a global fintech based in London that moves money across borders through FX, payments and lending in over 140 currencies, and it is majority owned by Santander.
The engineer would be one of the first product engineers in the Valencia hub. The work spans customer-facing web and mobile products and a payments backbone on AWS that is event-driven and API-first, alongside a governed data environment on Google Cloud. Ownership starts from day one: an engineer takes a client problem through design, delivery, measurement and iteration rather than working only from tickets. Reliability of money movement, including idempotency, retries and reconciliation, is a baseline expectation.
Leading technically across several crucial areas is part of the role. The engineer leads system design, sets engineering standards, reviews designs, mentors senior engineers and pushes improvements in testing, CI/CD and observability. AI-assisted development is part of everyday practice, along with the judgement to know where human review is needed for regulated decisions.
Candidates need a strong computer science foundation and substantial experience building and running production systems at scale. The posting values demonstrated impact and judgement over years of service alone. Working English is required. The interview has four stages: an introductory chat, an online coding test, a systems design session, and an interview with the hiring manager and a product leader.

Requirements
- A strong computer science foundation, through education or industry experience
