Job Description
Elastic is hiring a senior software engineer for its Security EDR Workflows team. The team builds the core capabilities behind Elastic Defend management, including policy configuration and response actions, plus forensic capabilities delivered through OSquery. It is also extending XDR into Elastic's SIEM foundations and improving onboarding and day-to-day management of the security product.
The engineer would create workflows and user-facing features for the Elastic Defend agent, helping protect against and respond to security threats. Work includes building and evolving APIs that let the product interact with Elastic Defend data, contributing to the architecture of the management and response-action framework, and developing scalable, high-performance systems. The engineer would own reliability, observability and operational health from design through production.
Most code is production-grade TypeScript and Node.js, with some work possibly in other languages. The role includes cross-team efforts, peer code review, design choices, and upgrades to the way the team sets standards and works, particularly those driven by AI usage. The posting expects AI to be used throughout development.
Candidates should have solid TypeScript, Node.js and React experience and be able to take problems from requirements and design through delivery, monitoring and iteration. The team wants people who ask clarifying questions, avoid assumptions, use AI to understand complex problems and ramp up quickly, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues. Experience with open-source work, the Elastic stack, or cybersecurity and forensics is a plus.
The typical starting base salary range for new hires is $128,300 to $203,000 CAD. The role is eligible for Elastic's stock program and a retirement savings plan (RRSP) that the company tops up.
