Deliveroo, which is now part of DoorDash, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack) for the Merchants team in London. In this hybrid role, which typically requires working from the office three days per week, the engineer will help transition core sales workflows off Salesforce and onto an internal platform shared with DoorDash and Wolt. The selected candidate will manage features across the stack, partnering closely with Design and Product teams.
The MX Intelligence group builds the tools that sales and operations personnel use to locate, quote, sign, and onboard restaurants and merchants. This position involves developing both backend services and integrations for merchant discovery as well as web tools used by sales teams. The ideal candidate has substantial experience creating web-based applications, designing web architecture capable of handling heavy request volumes, and working with relational and NoSQL databases.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale backend services and frontend components to handle workloads of 20,000 requests per minute and higher
- Lead architectural improvements and conduct code reviews to maintain operational health and visibility
- Collaborate with product managers and experience designers to plan projects, anticipate dependencies, and reduce technical risks
- Deconstruct complex challenges to influence the roadmap and technical direction of the team
- Mentor fellow engineers and participate actively in the engineering hiring process
Requirements
- Significant background in developing web-based applications utilizing modern technology stacks
- Demonstrated ability to design and operate web architecture at scale for high traffic volumes
- Hands-on ownership of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Experience with NoSQL backends including Redis, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch
- Commitment to producing readable, well-designed, and thoroughly tested code

- Experience working with Go, Ruby, Python, or Scala
- Background in guiding technical implementation choices and supporting teammate development
