Job Description

TrueML is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Legacy Performance Improvement team. The listing shows the role as remote. TrueML is a financial software company that uses machine learning to engage distressed borrowers digitally and adjust strategy in real time, with the aim of keeping people from being shut out of the financial system.

The team designs, builds and maintains the platforms that run the company day to day. Most of its work involves older platforms that support several of the firm's biggest revenue drivers, so results are visible across the business. The goal is to modernize, stabilize and expand key platforms while keeping them dependable for the teams that rely on them each day.

The engineer designs, builds and maintains internal tools and services, mostly within legacy systems. The role contributes to architecture decisions, including how to modernize existing platforms step by step, and focuses on big-revenue work where dependability, accuracy and speed matter most. Other duties include working with engineering and business stakeholders, making current codebases easier to maintain, test and monitor, writing technical documentation, taking part in code reviews, and mentoring less-experienced engineers.

The posting asks for five or more years of professional software work, including shipping production systems. Candidates should be comfortable with software architecture and legacy codebases, and able to pick up new languages and tools at speed. Working knowledge of Scala or Python, or both, is expected, along with creating services or APIs that other engineers consume. Experience with legacy modernization or migration, cloud infrastructure, containers and CI/CD pipelines is a nice-to-have. The company lists unlimited PTO.

  • Working knowledge of Scala or Python, or both
  • Track record of creating services or APIs that other engineers or internal teams consume
  • Strong communication skills for high-visibility projects
