Zuora is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to focus on its revenue product line within an enterprise SaaS environment. The company develops platforms that manage modern business models, including subscriptions, usage-based pricing, and recurring revenue systems. This position is suited for an experienced engineer who wants to design, build, and operate scalable cloud-native architectures while guiding teammates.
The role operates on a hybrid schedule out of the Foster City, California office, requiring staff to be onsite three days per week. Professionals in this role will collaborate across product management and engineering groups to deliver extensible APIs, common components, and robust enterprise features.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product management and engineering teams to build the next-generation Revenue product
- Design and code flexible components and APIs that support product customizability
- Oversee the complete delivery lifecycle of major features from initial design to production support
- Build cloud-native microservices, APIs, and event-driven integrations for high scalability
- Advocate for software quality, code review standards, observability, and testability
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance, pairing, and code reviews
- Identify and address technical debt during feature development
- Contribute to the organization's migration toward microservices and cloud architectures
Requirements
- 8 or more years of software development experience specializing in enterprise SaaS applications
- Proficiency in an object-oriented programming language such as Java or Python
- Extensive database and SQL expertise, covering data modeling, performance tuning, and transactions
- Expertise in web services, service-oriented architecture, RPC protocols like REST, gRPC, and Thrift, and API design
- Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and standard design patterns
- Hands-on experience with production software delivery, CI/CD pipelines, and troubleshooting
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience working with MongoDB and Redis
- Familiarity with cloud and DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka, and AWS services
- Background in distributed systems, big data, NoSQL, and high-scale transaction platforms like billing or payments
- Prior experience mentoring junior engineering staff
