Job Description
DistantJob is recruiting a Senior Software Engineer for a vendor data platform run by a U.S.-based client. The platform cleans, matches and unifies vendor records for many client firms, then sends the results to payment products via an API. The position is long-term, full-time and fully remote, with working hours matched to U.S. business hours.
The engineer takes ownership of the platform alongside the Tech Lead, from early scoping through production. Responsibilities include building and running the system across backend and frontend, maintaining the APIs other systems depend on and the screens operators use daily. The role also covers vendor record mastering, matching, dedupe and reconciliation, plus data-quality checks that protect the reliability of records.
As tenant counts and data volumes climb, the engineer helps the system scale, including async and event-driven work. The work is hands-on rather than ticket-driven. Design and delivery are shaped together with product, quality is protected through reviews and testing, and the engineer sits inside the client's own engineering group.
Candidates should have five or more years of software engineering with genuine production ownership. Proficiency in Python and building current-generation APIs is expected, along with frontend work in Angular or React with TypeScript, strong SQL and relational schema design, and time spent on Azure or AWS. Prior work on systems serving many tenants and on message-driven designs is also listed. Helpful extras include work with large, messy datasets, background in payments or fintech, knowledge of entity resolution, and practical experience using AI-powered coding tools.
The posting does not state a salary or pay range.
