Other pre-sales tasks include building demonstrations and web front-end prototypes, scoping and delivering Hygraph's Proof of Outcomes engagements against agreed criteria, and running technical workshops for executives, architects and content teams. The engineer also owns the technical case in late-stage deals, including questions about security, scale, integration and migration.
The remaining 30 percent is post-sales architecture. The engineer helps new customers move from the sales cycle into onboarding while keeping agreed outcomes in view. Advice covers content modelling, schema design, localisation, front-end decisions and third-party integrations. On difficult accounts and expansions, the engineer collaborates with customer success and forward-deployed colleagues, adds to reference designs, and records intricate customer situations for the team's playbooks.
Candidates should have five-plus years of customer-facing technical work, including three or more years selling pre-sales into B2B companies that offer API-first or developer-oriented SaaS. Fluency with GraphQL and contemporary front-end toolkits like React, Next.js and Svelte is essential, and so is a consultative approach and experience planning trials with quantifiable outcomes. Occasional travel to see prospects and customers in person is expected, and strong written and spoken English is essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery to connect a prospect's goals and architecture to measurable outcomes
- Design and present solution architectures suited to each prospect's stack and constraints
- Create demos and front-end prototypes using current frameworks
- Scope and deliver Proof of Outcomes engagements against agreed criteria
- Host technical sessions aimed at executives, architects, developers and editors
- Take charge of the technical argument in late-stage deals, covering security, scale and moving data
- Advise new customers on content modelling, schema design, localisation and integrations
- Document complex customer cases and contribute to reference architectures
Requirements
- Five-plus years in solutions engineering, sales engineering, architecture consulting or technical advisory
- Three-plus years selling pre-sales into B2B firms that build around APIs or developer tools
- Comfortable with GraphQL and current web stacks such as React, Next.js and Svelte
- A consultative approach that starts with questions and ties solutions to business outcomes
- Experience planning and delivering trials that are judged against clear, quantifiable targets
- Able to make intricate subjects clear for executives, engineers and editors alike
- Strong written and spoken English
- Willingness to travel occasionally and to work across global time zones
Qualifications
- Experience with headless CMS, digital experience platforms or composable architecture
- Experience with large companies where many stakeholders and security checks shape each purchase
- Work history alongside forward-deployed, consulting or delivery engineering staff
- Knowledge of AI tools, language-model content pipelines or moves to CMS platforms via MCP
- Advisory background in enterprise architecture or transformation programmes
