Cyberhaven seeks a Senior or Staff Software Engineer focused on Content Processing to design, construct, and scale backend infrastructure for its data security platform. This remote, full-time role involves building distributed systems, asynchronous processing workflows, and high-throughput data pipelines to protect enterprise data. Cyberhaven operates a platform that tracks the complete lifecycle of data to secure modern workflows without hindering productivity. This hands-on position requires significant architectural ownership and the ability to solve complex technical problems involving concurrency, fault tolerance, and resource efficiency. Candidates will collaborate across teams to shape platform capabilities, manage services end-to-end, and drive system modernization. The ideal professional understands how complex systems behave under load and can make practical engineering trade-offs while maintaining production stability.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale distributed backend systems and high-throughput data processing pipelines
- Develop reliable, high-performance services with an emphasis on concurrency, efficiency, and fault tolerance
- Improve event-driven architectures, asynchronous workflows, and distributed coordination mechanisms
- Resolve engineering issues related to consistency, retries, idempotency, deduplication, backpressure, and failure recovery
- Make architectural decisions regarding distributed storage, messaging systems, and data processing strategies
- Optimize infrastructure by eliminating performance bottlenecks to improve throughput, latency, and cost efficiency
- Drive the modernization of existing systems while maintaining production stability
- Own critical services end-to-end through design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and operations
- Lead technical design discussions, evaluate architectural trade-offs, and establish engineering best practices
- Collaborate across engineering teams to define technical direction and solve cross-service challenges
Requirements
- Extensive software engineering experience in designing, building, and operating complex production backend systems
- Deep understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, concurrency, asynchronous processing, consistency, and fault tolerance
- Proficiency in Go or comparable backend programming experience with the capability to quickly become productive in Go
- Experience in designing and operating systems using messaging technologies such as Kafka, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, or AWS SQS
