Job Description
Canonical, the publisher of the Ubuntu platform used in cloud, IoT, data science, and AI initiatives, is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer. This globally remote role involves perfecting enterprise infrastructure DevOps practices through model-driven automation across private and public clouds. The successful candidate will manage hundreds of private cloud and Kubernetes clusters, address incidents, monitor applications, and ensure high-quality standards across an open source portfolio. The position entails working across the entire technology stack, spanning from bare-metal kernels and networking up to containers and open source software. Team members receive training in core tools like Kubernetes, OpenStack, OpenSearch, Kafka, and Kubeflow. Globally distributed colleagues meet up to twice annually for in-person international events.
Responsibilities
- Deploy and operate OpenStack, Kubernetes, storage solutions, and open source applications using DevOps methodologies
- Identify and resolve incidents while monitoring application performance
- Observe systems, anticipate potential challenges, and contribute to product refinement
- Handle mission-critical services for global enterprise customers
Requirements
- Experience in Python software development
- Operational background in Linux environments
- Experience with Kubernetes operations or deployment
- Strong interpersonal skills combined with curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
- Ability to travel internationally up to two times a year for company gatherings lasting up to two weeks
Qualifications
- Degree in computer science or software engineering
