Job Description
Alma is expanding its engineering organization and seeks a Software Backend Engineer at a senior or confirmed level to join one of several cross-functional squads. This permanent contract position can be based in Paris or performed remotely from France. Alma operates in the financial technology sector, providing buy now pay later installment and deferred payment infrastructure designed to help merchants increase sales and customer retention across Europe.
In this role, the engineer will create and maintain the payment APIs and backend components supporting extensive merchant and consumer transactions. Responsibilities include shaping technical architecture alongside product and tech leaders, producing production-grade software within a regulated environment, and overseeing end-to-end platform reliability through incident management and troubleshooting. The engineering stack utilizes Python, Docker, React, GCP, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Redis, Pub/Sub, and Datadog.
