This remote role involves developing and operating backend services that drive the Snap Store and Charmhub.io marketplaces. Team members collaborate across borders and meet in person two to four times per year in various global locations for strategic alignment.
The Store team builds systems primarily using Python, along with some Golang, to power marketplace infrastructure. Upcoming initiatives include scaling production architectures, expanding software delivery ranges, and enhancing enterprise and IoT solutions. Responsibilities
- Collaborate remotely with a globally distributed engineering team
- Write clean web service APIs for CLI and web frontend clients using Python and optionally Golang
- Design and implement new features and enhancements throughout the entire lifecycle from specification to production and ongoing operations
- Review technical designs and code written by other engineers
- Participate in discussions and collaborate on engineering solutions
- Travel globally for two to four weeks per year for internal and external events
Requirements
- Demonstrated professional experience in developing public-facing APIs and web applications using Python
- Experience with backend code and infrastructure
- Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, including data model design and query tuning
- Familiarity with Ubuntu as a platform for development and deployment
Qualifications
- Demonstrated strong academic performance in Computer Science, STEM, or a related degree
