Addepar operates a global data and AI platform designed to help investment professionals manage nearly $10 trillion in assets by turning complex financial details into actionable intelligence. The organization is currently seeking a Software Engineer for its Customer Facing Applied AI group. In this remote position, you will embed directly with strategic clients to identify operational challenges, prototype solutions from scratch, and collaborate with core engineering units to turn these prototypes into production-ready products for the broader customer base.
This early-stage team offers a unique opportunity to shape future offerings while working closely with end users to refine system behavior, agent workflows, and tool integrations. The position involves occasional work outside standard business hours to align with various client time zones, as well as up to 15 percent travel to client locations, which may include overnight and multi-day visits. Compensation ranges from $163,000 to $203,500 per year, and includes base salary, bonus, equity, and benefits.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evaluate AI-powered agents and tools end-to-end, moving rapidly from problem identification to production deployment
- Implement language model integrations encompassing prompt engineering, structured outputs, function calling, and retrieval-augmented workflows
- Establish evaluation frameworks and construct test harnesses for domain-specific AI systems
- Collaborate directly with clients and domain experts to analyze workflows and validate artificial intelligence behavior
- Coordinate with core engineering groups to transition client-specific implementations into scalable product features
- Contribute to shared artificial intelligence infrastructure including deployment pipelines, tool integrations, and agent frameworks
- Supervise and maintain production AI systems while prioritizing performance, reliability, and cost
Requirements
- At least two years of professional software engineering experience
- Demonstrated professional experience using Python
- Practical background utilizing language model APIs such as Claude or GPT, including structured outputs and function calling
- Proficiency with SQL for data exploration and constructing data-grounded workflows
- Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code or Codex
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
Qualifications
- Experience constructing agentic systems including multi-step tool use, durable workflows, and agent orchestration
- Familiarity with additional backend programming languages, with Java valued in the environment
- Knowledge of financial data such as securities, portfolios, transactions, and accounting
- Exposure to container-based deployments and cloud infrastructure on AWS
- Familiarity with evaluation methodologies or frameworks designed to measure artificial intelligence quality
- A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience
