Job Description
Equiqo is hiring a remote Software Engineer to develop an AI-powered platform designed for production-grade LLM agents in complex audit workflows. This position suits an experienced engineer with a strong background in data engineering and AI systems who wants to build infrastructure for evaluating, monitoring, and optimizing large-scale AI agents.
In this role, the engineer will work across backend services, data pipelines, analytical databases, and agent architecture. Responsibilities include designing evaluation frameworks, creating automated validation pipelines, investigating execution logs, and developing observability tools. The work involves addressing unique engineering challenges around non-deterministic AI systems without established blueprints, making sound architectural choices, and delivering maintainable solutions.
The ideal candidate possesses solid backend development skills in Python, advanced SQL capabilities, and experience with cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform. Familiarity with analytical databases, distributed systems, and data pipelines is essential. Candidates with background in LLM application infrastructure, distributed tracing, workflow orchestration tools, or early-stage startups will find this opportunity particularly relevant.
Responsibilities
- Design and operate infrastructure supporting production AI agents with a focus on data platforms and observability
- Develop offline and online evaluation frameworks for LLM agents utilizing benchmark datasets, human feedback, and ground-truth labels
- Implement automated validation pipelines to verify changes to models, prompts, context, and behavior prior to release
- Analyze large-scale execution logs and traces to detect performance bottlenecks, quality issues, and cost reduction opportunities
- Build and maintain data solutions using analytical databases and column-oriented storage platforms such as ClickHouse or BigQuery
- Create long-term storage, replay, and analysis systems for production agent activity to assist with debugging
- Establish observability features including monitoring, dashboards, logging, and trace inspection tools
- Contribute directly to the backend platform by enhancing current AI agents and building new capabilities
Requirements
- Experience developing server-side applications in Python or comparable technologies
- Proficiency in writing advanced SQL queries and handling large-scale datasets
- Experience deploying and maintaining cloud-based applications, preferably on Google Cloud Platform
- Background in designing ETL or ELT processes, data pipelines, streaming systems, or feedback loops
- Familiarity with data warehouses, analytical databases, columnar storage, and high-volume trace data
- Understanding of distributed systems, logging, monitoring, debugging, and software reliability trade-offs
- Ability to navigate complex codebases and grasp existing architectures quickly
- Senior engineering judgment for making architectural choices and building extensible solutions
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience building infrastructure for AI agents or LLM-powered applications
- Experience analyzing production traces from distributed applications
- Background in creating internal developer platforms or tooling
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow or Temporal
- Familiarity with regulated industries including finance, risk, audit, or compliance
- Prior work history in an early-stage startup or fast-paced engineering setting
