Job Description
This is a full-time, on-site Software Engineer role for recent graduates in London. Engineers here build and grow the platforms behind Deliveroo's marketplace, covering live logistics, dependable infrastructure and improvements to how the marketplace operates. The position suits people who finished a computing or related technical degree within the last twelve months.
The new engineer helps refine production code and contributes to how services are structured, working in languages such as Go, Ruby, Python or Scala. Over time they take charge of individual pieces of work, contributing to design and implementation and having a say in the team's plans. At first they learn from senior colleagues, and later they help others through code review and sharing what they know.
Keeping production systems manageable, healthy and transparent is also part of the job. The team wants systems that are simple to run, and the engineer builds working relationships with other engineering groups to spot shared problems and tackle complex marketplace questions together.
The posting expects strength in some of the listed areas and curiosity about the rest. Caring about tidy, well-tested code and having built some web apps in any language are valued. Willingness to pick up the stack, which includes Go, Ruby on Rails, Python, Scala or Rust, is welcome, as is some working knowledge of PostgreSQL or MySQL. Candidates need the right to work in the UK.

Requirements
- Computing degree, or a closely related technical degree, finished within the past twelve months.
- Cares about clean, well-tested code and sensible design choices.
- Some hands-on time building web apps in any language.
- Right to work in the UK.
Qualifications
- Interest in learning Go, Ruby on Rails, Python, Scala or Rust.
- Some working knowledge of PostgreSQL or MySQL relational databases.
- Knack for splitting messy logistics or technical puzzles into workable software pieces.
