Pathward is seeking a Software Engineer Principal to join its team on a remote basis. Pathward operates as a financial empowerment company, partnering with innovators to expand financial availability, choice, and opportunity while eliminating barriers to economic mobility and providing secure financial products.
In this position, the principal software engineer will utilize knowledge of the company technical stack to build applications, participate in design and testing, and maintain existing systems. Candidates should have a strong technical background and the ability to mentor other developers. The salary range for this position is USD 104,000 to 174,000 per year, with eligibility for an annual performance-based incentive opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and document software solutions following established guidelines and standards
- Resolve development challenges and fix issues, address security vulnerabilities, and enhance system performance in existing applications
- Participate in user story analysis and planning sessions to understand user requirements
- Implement technical solutions that address business problems using sound design principles
- Keep documentation updated for software modifications, industry standards, and best practices
- Stay informed about upcoming changes in programming tools, technologies, and industry methods via training
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in a technical field or equivalent education and work experience
- Minimum of 8 years of working experience in a professional technical environment
- Minimum of 6 years of professional software design and development experience
- Practical, hands-on experience with application development and process modeling on the Appian low-code platform
- Experience integrating Appian with external data sources and APIs
- Ability to work effectively in a team, plan and prioritize for a developer group, and teach or mentor other engineers
Qualifications
- General familiarity with Agile, Lean, or Kanban software development lifecycles
- Expected familiarity with technologies such as .NET, C#, ASP.NET, MVC, Classic ASP, VB Script, Entity Framework, WPF, JavaScript, IIS, HTML, CSS, XML/XSLT, MSMQ, and NServiceBus
- Preferred experience utilizing Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, Git, or alternate source control utilities
- Cloud development background with Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure
