Natera is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join their team in a remote capacity. This position offers an opportunity to work with professionals in cell-free DNA testing, oncology, women's health, and organ health, focusing on personalized genetic testing and diagnostics. The intern will handle software development tasks, collaborate with users, and contribute to system reliability.
This role suits individuals eager to acquire new skills, take ownership of tasks, and build experience in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities will include writing unit tests, debugging issues, automating tasks with scripts, and implementing software requirements. Candidates will work alongside industry experts to help advance genetic disease management.

Responsibilities
- Analyze and implement software requirements
- Format, validate, and upload data
- Perform database schema changes
- Automate existing manual tasks through script development
- Modify software code to resolve defects and improve reliability
- Perform debugging and root cause analysis
- Communicate with users to understand their needs
- Develop unit tests and assist with code reviews, testing, and test automation
- Complete required training on HIPAA, privacy, compliance, and security within the first 30 days
Requirements
- Good working knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language such as JavaScript, Python, or Java
- Familiarity with SQL and MySQL administration
- Proficiency in verbal and written English communication
- Ability and willingness to acquire new skills
- High sense of ownership and accountability
- Pass a post-offer criminal background check
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a similar discipline
- Completion of a high-quality bootcamp class
- Equivalent work experience
- Experience with Google Sheets formulas and App Script
