Job Description
Elastic is seeking a Search Solutions Architect for a full-time, on-site role in the United Kingdom. The architect designs and launches search systems that combine artificial intelligence, meaning-based search and vector retrieval, including Elastic's learned sparse encoder, ELSER.
Designs may include retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases and newer technologies. The architect builds vector representations of content so people can find what they need even when their queries are imprecise, and applies ELSER to raise retrieval precision and speed.
A major responsibility is proof-of-concept work that shows what AI, meaning-based retrieval, vector lookup and ELSER deliver together, measured in relevance, user experience and better decisions. The architect shares findings through talks, articles and other channels, builds knowledge within the Solutions Architecture group and beyond, and works with engineers, data scientists and domain experts.
The best candidate has designed enterprise search platforms for more than ten years, understands AI and semantic search deeply, including RAG, vector search and natural language processing, and knows ecosystem tools such as Hugging Face and LangChain. Familiarity with ELSER's design and other Hugging Face models, plus vector database experience, is expected. The role may involve speaking with developers, architects and executive buyers within a single day, so clear communication across audiences matters. Fluency in Spanish is an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement search solutions using Elastic's AI, semantic and vector search capabilities
- Apply ELSER to improve query accuracy and retrieval efficiency
- Build and present proof-of-concept projects that show business value
- Share expertise through talks, posts and other channels that position Elastic in AI-powered search
- Strengthen knowledge sharing inside the Solutions Architecture group and across departments
- Keep pace with change across AI, meaning-based search and vector retrieval
Requirements
- Over ten years designing enterprise-level search solutions
- Deep grasp of AI and semantic search, covering RAG, vector search and NLP
- Working familiarity with ecosystem technologies such as Hugging Face and LangChain
- Solid understanding of ELSER's design and of other models in the Hugging Face ecosystem
- Hands-on time with vector databases and newer data stores
- Strong communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical listeners
- Collaborative outlook and a commitment to continuous learning
Qualifications
