Job Description
The Vaan Group, a Shopify Platinum design and technology agency specializing in Brand Conversion Design, seeks a Solutions Strategist. This remote, full-time position bridges the gap between client understanding and technical execution for direct-to-consumer and B2B brands ranging from $5M to $1B in GMV. The person in this role will guide technical discovery, map complex merchant environments, translate business needs into explicit functional and technical requirements, and advise on tech stack composition.
This is not a developer position. Instead, it suits an individual who can analyze merchant ecosystems, manage requirements across multiple concurrent clients, evaluate third-party integrations and AI tools, and collaborate closely with engineering, design, account, and growth strategy teams. Candidates must be comfortable with rapid changes, capable of leading stakeholder sessions, and skilled in writing clear documentation that engineering teams can execute against with minimal ambiguity.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical discovery sessions for new engagements, platform migrations, and major projects with client stakeholders across technical, marketing, and operations functions
- Translate ambiguous business needs into scoped functional and technical requirements while documenting what is out of scope
- Decompose requirements into epics and stories for engineers, collaborating with Product Owners to maintain backlog accuracy
- Maintain a page-by-page requirements record covering features, functions, metafields, and active applications
- Collaborate with Tech Leads to document architecture, data flows, and business rules while validating feasibility
- Evaluate third-party tools across loyalty, search, reviews, personalization, subscriptions, and headless commerce
- Track Shopify platform updates, deprecations, and roadmap signals to provide client guidance
- Map complex merchant environments involving ERPs, PIMs, OMS platforms, CRM systems, and marketing stacks
- Audit existing Shopify implementations for technical debt, architectural gaps, and unused capabilities
- Apply AI tools in delivery work to draft specs, script audits, analyze rulesets, reconcile data, and create wireframes
Requirements
- Track record of selecting appropriate tools for specific client contexts and defending those choices to clients and engineers
- Working familiarity with Shopify Plus administration, metafields, theme architecture, and B2B
- Understanding of headless and composable architectures
- Track record of leading discovery on complex digital projects with strict documentation habits
- Ability to run stakeholder sessions that uncover true client needs
- Experience writing unambiguous requirements engineering teams can execute against
- Capacity to hold requirements for multiple clients simultaneously without context bleeding
- Platform migration exposure involving Magento, BigCommerce, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify Plus
- Working comfort using Figma or FigJam, Jira, and Excel
- Experience evaluating AI features inside tools merchants already use
