Protective Life seeks a Billing Specialist to join the organization on a remote, full-time basis. In this role, the professional will collaborate with the Billing Manager and Premium Application Specialist to handle premium payment exceptions, follow up on missing details, process transactions, and interact with internal teams, insureds, and producers. Responsibilities
- Investigate premium reports to uncover discrepancies and initiate corrective follow-up communications
- Review outstanding balances and execute designated follow-up steps for the balance-due process
- Obtain missing details needed to clear up incomplete premium records
- Interact with insured individuals and producers to discuss billing variances and outline necessary corrections
- Handle premium payments through approved electronic systems such as E-Pay and Virtual Terminal
- Dispatch written correspondence regarding balances owed, missing information, and billing discrepancies
- Assist the Premium Application Specialist with research, exception handling, and payment posting tasks
- Coordinate with internal departments to investigate and resolve billing discrepancies
Requirements
- Prior insurance-industry background
- Strong attention to detail for reviewing reports, managing payments, and documenting account actions
- Professional communication abilities via phone and electronic channels
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate information and resolve premium issues
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and workloads in a high-volume setting
Qualifications
- An associate degree is preferred
- Experience with premium billing, payment processing, or related account administration is strongly preferred
