In this remote, full-time position, the professional will report directly to the Sr. Accounting Manager and collaborate closely with teams such as Operations, Supply Chain, Accounts Payable, and FP&A. The person in this role will handle prepaid expense reconciliations, software and utility expense analysis, lease accounting, and the monthly close cycle. Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly close process for assigned accounts by preparing journal entries, accruals, and adjustments within deadlines
- Prepare and maintain accurate account reconciliations and supporting documents for designated areas
- Handle lease accounting operations under ASC 842 via third-party software, including schedules, monthly entries, and right-of-use asset and liability reconciliations
- Review lease renewals, amendments, terminations, and agreements to determine proper accounting treatments with the Accounting Manager
- Classify and record rent, utilities, and occupancy expenses according to policy and contract terms
- Oversee prepaid expense reconciliations and amortization schedules for proper period recognition
- Conduct monthly variance reviews for software, insurance, utilities, rent, and operating expenses
- Examine invoices, contracts, and account records to spot timing differences, coding mistakes, and unrecorded accruals
- Collaborate with departments like Legal, Operations, FP&A, and Accounts Payable to gather timely data
- Maintain documentation for internal controls and compile schedules for external audits
- Participate in automation efforts and process enhancements while critically reviewing results for precision
Requirements
- 3 to 4 years of relevant background in accounting or audit functions
- Advanced English proficiency for written and verbal communication
- Practical experience with month-end close procedures, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Demonstrated history of preparing amortization schedules and prepaid expense reconciliations
- Knowledge of expense recognition principles and differences between rent, utilities, and occupancy costs
- Skill in executing account variance analyses and identifying business drivers
- Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets or Excel
- Strong analytical skills, independent time management, and a collaborative working style
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or a related discipline
- Practical familiarity with LeaseQuery
- Familiarity with US GAAP standards, specifically ASC 842 lease accounting
- Experience using NetSuite
- Background handling multi-currency entities
- Experience upgrading accounting workflows using automation or AI tools with output verification
