Teamified acts as a talent partner assisting organizations in establishing dedicated global engineering units, and is currently recruiting on behalf of an Australian health technology enterprise. This client is building an AI-driven anxiety coaching platform for Android and iOS using React Native, alongside a React-based web component handling user subscriptions and accounts. Currently nearing its soft launch following the testing phase, the application features an AI coaching assistant powered by Large Language Models to provide personalized guidance within a clinical and safety-checked framework. Security and privacy are paramount given the sensitive nature of the mental health data managed by the system.
The organization seeks a Sr. Founding Product Engineer to assume total end-to-end technical ownership of the platform as the sole dedicated engineer. Reporting directly to a non-technical founder, this individual will operate independently without a CTO or agency support, utilizing modern agentic coding workflows to plan, build, and deploy. The role demands full responsibility across the artificial intelligence coaching features, Python-based backend infrastructure, mobile and web applications, and release engineering. This position suits an autonomous, product-minded engineer who balances fast delivery with rigorous attention to safety and security standards in a regulated consumer space.
Responsibilities
- Manage the AI Coach end-to-end, covering prompt architecture, conversation state tracking, vector retrieval via Pinecone, model evaluation, and safety guardrails tested against clinical scenarios
- Own backend development utilizing Python 3.12, FastAPI, Strawberry GraphQL, SQLAlchemy, and PostgreSQL hosted on AWS in Sydney
- Drive mobile and web delivery across React Native for Android and iOS, and React for web applications, including Stripe and app store purchase integrations
- Handle release engineering tasks such as continuous integration and deployment, environment configuration, credential signing, monitoring, database backups, and rollbacks
- Translate complex technical decisions into clear, understandable language for the founder and clinical team
Requirements
- Proven background in shipping production-grade LLM applications encompassing prompts, state machines, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluations, and moderation
- Strong backend engineering expertise in Python, FastAPI or comparable frameworks, SQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS infrastructure management
- Solid experience with React Native and React, including debugging and deploying mobile purchase workflows and web payments
- Demonstrated practice of AI-first development utilizing agentic coding tools daily while critically reviewing generated output
- Demonstrated product sensibility with an eye for fixing broken mobile and web user experience layouts and clumsy flows
- Self-sufficient operational history managing a major system or product end-to-end with minimal oversight, paired with excellent written communication skills
- Demonstrated seriousness or background in maintaining privacy, security, and access controls for personal or health data
Qualifications
- Background in health tech, mental health, or other safety-critical and regulated consumer industries
- Experience taking over an existing codebase previously managed by an agency or departing team
- Familiarity with mobile release operations including store review cycles, promo codes, and staged rollouts
- Knowledge of growth and analytics tooling like AppsFlyer, GA4, event taxonomies, and experiment frameworks
- Familiarity with voice features such as text-to-speech and speech-to-text, push notification strategies, and CRM or email platform integrations
