Job Description

Responsibilities

• Help set up the UK data science team, building out technical culture, working norms, and onboarding procedures from the ground up
• Partner with US data science counterparts to ensure cohesive transatlantic collaboration, shared standards, and aligned roadmap priorities
• Collaborate with company leadership across Marketing, Operations, Product, and Finance to prioritize projects and sequence the delivery schedule
• Review technical designs and codebases to catch potential issues early and provide guidance on complex technical challenges
• Establish and enforce high engineering standards for code reviews, documentation, model monitoring, and experimentation rigor
• Take full ownership of shipping reliable 0-to-1 production systems that generate measurable business impact

Requirements

• Minimum of eight years of professional experience in Data Science or Machine Learning Engineering
• At least two years of direct experience managing data scientists or machine learning engineers
• Demonstrated track record of joining or helping establish a brand-new team, office, or geographical region
• Prior professional experience working on or managing a team split across different countries or major time zones
• Strong technical proficiency in Python, SQL, and applied machine learning techniques including regression, classification, time-series, and causal methods
• Familiarity with production machine learning systems, cloud environments, CI/CD pipelines, and ML Ops
• Experience managing roadmaps, resource constraints, and stakeholder tradeoffs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in a quantitative academic discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, or Operations Research, or equivalent practical experience
• Direct prior experience working within a US and UK split team structure
• Background in advanced business machine learning applications including customer behavior propensity modeling, applied forecasting, optimization, or marketing measurement
• Prior industry background within healthcare, direct-to-consumer subscription models, or the pharmaceutical sector
