The professional chosen will train and mentor financial analysts, craft new project financial workflows to boost operational efficiency, and deliver monthly financial performance metrics directly to executive leadership.
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in project finance within the contract research organization sector and experience collaborating directly with sponsors. Responsibilities include preparing monthly invoicing worksheets, assessing work orders and change orders against actual performance, executing monthly earned value analyses, and acting as the financial lead during quarterly business reviews with clients. Additionally, the role involves supporting contract evaluations, responding to executive inquiries, and collaborating with internal finance colleagues to meet departmental objectives. Travel may occasionally be required for face-to-face meetings and client interactions.
Responsibilities
- Manage, train, and guide financial analysts regarding project finance support
- Design and deploy project financial workflows to improve operational efficiency and reporting timeliness
- Deliver monthly financial metrics including revenue recognition, forecasting, variance tracking, and vendor spend data to executive leadership
- Coordinate with intercompany finance units to maintain alignment on budgets, backlog, monthly revenue, and agreements
- Support clinical trial project teams with relevant financial operations
- Help prepare monthly invoicing worksheets utilized for client billing and revenue recognition
- Conduct variance reviews comparing projected and actual revenue to spot scope changes and gaps
- Evaluate work orders and change orders against actual tasks to identify out-of-scope work involving clients, vendors, and partners
- Perform monthly earned value analyses alongside project managers and directors
- Take part in monthly project reviews and lead financial discussions during client quarterly business reviews
- Review statements of work and change order documents alongside leadership
- Answer executive inquiries regarding project financial outcomes, ad hoc analyses, and special reporting needs
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
- Minimum of eight years of experience in project finance
- Working knowledge of financial project management support, project budgets, earned value analysis, and financial contract reviews
- Direct experience working with sponsors
- Contract research organization industry experience
- Legal authorization to work in the country of employment without sponsorship
