This Senior Software Systems Analyst position sits on the DATUM software team, which covers warehouse execution and control software. The role was created to tighten the link between what the company sells and what its engineers end up building.
The analyst first feeds the Solutions Software group during presales. That group produces the proposal, a Level 1 Software Design Specification and a rough order of magnitude estimate. The analyst then expands this material into a Level 2 specification and a firm estimate that accompanies the proposal, turning early figures into firm hours, deliverables and stated assumptions.
After contract signature the analyst stays with the work. Duties include supporting kickoffs, facilitating detailed design sessions with clients and internal staff, and running onsite discovery visits to confirm operating needs, product flow, exception handling and existing systems. Responsibilities

- Manage and refine the project backlog, and join or run Scrum meetings.
- Travel to client sites for discovery, design reviews and commissioning, with travel expected up to 50 percent.
Requirements
- Eight-plus years delivering technical solutions for warehouse execution, WMS or other industrial software, spanning development, analysis and solution design.
- Track record of writing design specs and integration documents that engineering teams build from.
- Grasp of material handling automation and how a warehouse execution system fits between WMS or ERP software and PLC-level controls.
- Hands-on experience specifying integrations that involve REST APIs, messaging, flat files and EDI.
- Ability to estimate software scope and defend the assumptions behind the number.
- Experience in Agile or Scrum teams, with Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Comfort with Microsoft Office and diagramming software like Visio, Draw.io or Lucidchart.
- A technical bachelor's degree, or equivalent industrial engineering or supply chain experience in its place.
