BeyondTrust is seeking a Sr Software Development Engineer to join its engineering department. The company is a global identity security leader that helps organizations secure privileges, manage attack surfaces, and neutralize threats for over 20,000 customers worldwide. In this on-site role, the successful candidate will work within the team responsible for the Secure Remote Access suite.
This position involves managing the appliance base operating system, overseeing the build and release pipeline, and maintaining the underlying cloud infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate closely with technical support, quality assurance, and other internal teams to investigate and triage complex issues, deliver code fixes, and design new product features.
The role is suited for a motivated problem-solver who enjoys troubleshooting software down to its root cause and prioritizing customer success. Responsibilities
- Design, construct, and maintain reliable code for enterprise client-server applications
- Translate user stories and use cases into functional software features
- Partner with quality assurance personnel to generate test cases and project documentation
- Assess project scopes, provide reliable time estimates, and communicate technical risks
- Collaborate with support and engineering departments to troubleshoot and triage code-level issues
- Build, package, sign, and release updates for cloud and on-premises appliance images
- Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure including compute, storage, DNS, and key management
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of software development experience
- Familiarity with the complete software development lifecycle
- Extensive background working in Unix and Linux environments
- Practical knowledge of Python and PHP
- Experience with Laravel or a comparable MVC framework, along with maintaining legacy code
- Hands-on practice with Amazon Web Services such as EC2, S3, IAM, Route 53, and KMS
- Database design and administration skills
- Understanding of network security and encryption principles
- Strong written and verbal English communication abilities
- Experience operating in an Agile continuous integration and development setting
Qualifications
- Focus on secure coding practices and cryptography such as TLS
- Experience utilizing Terraform and AWS Lambda
- Familiarity with OAuth2, SAML, and X.509 certificates
- Background in developing applications that operate at scale
- Experience building or debugging the Linux kernel
