This full-time Staff Applied Science Manager role in Bengaluru leads a group of data scientists whose models shape InMobi's core business numbers. The work centers on InMobi DSP, the company's demand-side advertising platform, where feedback on a model can arrive within hours or minutes and where models are shipped at large scale and high speed.
The manager builds and mentors a strong team, handling hiring, coaching and career growth for data scientists at every level. The position sets technical direction, plans roadmaps, and manages dependencies across several workstreams at once. The manager stays close to the data and models so they can shape experiment design, remove blockers and make sound technical calls.
Responsibilities span the full life of each effort, from ideation and solution design through measurement, deployment and ongoing management after launch. The manager is the bridge to product and engineering partners, plus data, infrastructure and business groups, turns business needs into technical plans, and ties model results to measurable outcomes. Encouraging the team to publish articles, case studies and conference talks is part of the job.
Qualifying paths include a master's in a quantitative discipline or a bachelor's from a respected college plus relevant experience, plus 10 to 14 years of quantitative work. Two to three years of people management or team leadership are expected. Skill in machine learning, statistics, Python or R, Apache Spark and cloud platforms is needed, and ad tech experience is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
- Build up and direct a group of data scientists on InMobi DSP work
- Own program execution, including roadmaps, priorities, dependencies and on-time delivery
- Coach and develop team members with clear goals and regular feedback
- Guide the design, build and testing of product experiments
- Keep the team connected with product, platform, data and business partners
- Tie each model design to its business context and measurable results
- Encourage thought leadership, including articles, case studies and conference talks
Requirements
- Master's in a quantitative discipline, or a bachelor's from a respected college plus relevant experience
- 10 to 14 years of quantitative work, including model building and validation
- Two to three years in people management or team leadership
- Experience steering portfolios of data science projects
- Applied ML, deep learning and statistics on big data
- Proficiency in Python or R and comfort with Apache Spark
- Track record of recruiting, coaching and keeping data science talent
Qualifications
- Ad tech background is a strong plus
- Exposure to Azure, AWS or Google Cloud and Vertex AI is a bonus
- Understanding of measurement challenges in identity-less environments on iOS and Android
