Job Description

The Marketing Science department at Reddit is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to guide the technical execution and strategy of marketing intelligence initiatives. In this position, the professional will act as the key architect responsible for measuring and optimizing marketing expenditures across both B2B advertising and B2C user growth functions. This role suits an experienced practitioner who can set multi-year technical roadmaps, establish critical measurement frameworks, and influence senior leadership through data-driven insights. Working closely alongside the Growth, Marketing, and Finance divisions, the chosen candidate will refine attribution systems, design complex incrementality tests, and mentor junior personnel.
Responsibilities
- Formulate a two to three year technical roadmap for marketing measurement to guide large-scale budget allocations
- Develop and improve Media Mix Models and Multi-Touch Attribution systems to calculate the incremental value of marketing spend
- Design unified strategies to optimize marketing campaigns targeted at attracting new advertisers and engaging users
- Oversee the creation of continuous incrementality testing and geo-holdout experiments
- Partner with Finance, Marketing, and Growth teams to convert statistical insights into strategic budget adjustments
- Coach junior team members and uphold high standards for statistical rigor and code quality
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline
- Minimum of ten years of industry experience in econometrics, growth data science, or marketing science for Master's degree holders, or six years for Ph.D. holders
- Extensive background in the marketing ecosystem, including practical work with Customer Lifetime Value prediction, Incrementality Testing, and Marketing Mix Modeling
- High proficiency in SQL along with either Python or R
- Demonstrated ability to construct production-ready data pipelines and apply machine learning for predictive modeling
- Proven experience communicating complex statistical concepts to C-suite stakeholders
Qualifications
- Familiarity with causal inference libraries or Bayesian structural time series
- Prior employment background within a social media platform or high-growth marketplace
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the Reddit platform and its advertising philosophy
