Job Description
Freshworks is hiring a Staff Full Stack Engineer at IC4 level for a full-time, on-site role. The engineer designs the end-to-end systems behind global SaaS products, joining distributed backend infrastructure with responsive, scalable frontend applications. This is a technical leadership position that steers multiple engineering tracks, mentors engineers and brings modern architecture patterns into the team.
Work includes building backend microservices and REST interfaces, plus modular frontend layers, and owning each stage, from scoping and schema design through rollout, automation and live support. The engineer tunes systems for very high availability, multi-tenant fault tolerance, security and observability, and resolves production problems ranging from slow queries to frontend memory leaks.
The role leads architecture and code reviews, guides between two and four engineers, and champions object-oriented and SOLID design. The posting encourages practical use of AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot. Collaboration spans product managers, design staff and SRE teams. At least ten years of progressive full-stack experience is expected.
Responsibilities
- Architect full-stack systems that handle high transaction volumes and deliver fast, reliable web experiences.
- Turn vague product goals into designs at both system and component level, spanning engineering tracks.
- Build and maintain scalable microservices, REST APIs and modular frontend layers.
- Own the development lifecycle, from scoping and schema design through rollout, automation and support.
- Write clean, testable code tuned for browser speed, database performance and algorithmic cost.
- Keep systems highly available and secure, with observability built in.
- Investigate production slowdowns across the database and frontend stack.
- Lead design reviews and mentor two to four engineers.
Requirements
- Ten or more years of progressive experience constructing and growing full-stack applications.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, complexity trade-offs and SOLID object-oriented design.
- Ability to design scalable, highly available, multi-tenant systems covering APIs, web architecture, schemas and data models.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL stores, caching, microservices and distributed queues.
- Understanding of modern frontend concerns: component lifecycle, state handling and client performance.
- Hands-on work with CI/CD, DevOps tooling and AWS or GCP.
- Practical use of generative AI tools in daily coding.
- A degree in computing, engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
Qualifications
- Experience creating complicated systems from a blank slate and evolving them through repeated production scale-ups.
- Clear communicator who can explain designs to engineers and executives.
