The organization is currently seeking a remote Staff Engineer to join the Platform team's Shared Services group. This role focuses on designing distributed applications, building backend services, and improving overarching architectural standards. Ideal candidates are problem solvers who enjoy fast-paced environments, take ownership of their tasks, and act as technical mentors to support the growth of junior peers.
Day-to-day work involves crafting scalable and secure service architectures, reducing technical debt, developing backend components using C# or TypeScript, and utilizing relational and non-relational databases like PostgreSQL. Professionals in this position will also containerize applications through Docker and Kubernetes, manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, and implement CI/CD pipelines alongside Infrastructure as Code.
Responsibilities
- Design secure, maintainable, and scalable service architectures
- Build backend services using C# or TypeScript for web and background worker applications
- Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, prioritizing PostgreSQL
- Containerize and deploy services using Docker and Kubernetes
- Build and optimize cloud infrastructure via AWS or similar platforms
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and Infrastructure as Code
- Apply application and infrastructure security best practices
- Ensure system reliability through test automation, performance optimization, and profiling
- Integrate and manage third-party APIs with monitoring
- Explore and integrate AI/ML-driven features into applications
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Requirements
- Seven or more years of professional software development experience
- Strong background in distributed systems, platform engineering, and architectural decision-making
- Proficiency with typed, functional programming in Haskell, Scala, C#, or TypeScript
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, specifically PostgreSQL
- Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS or equivalent cloud environments
- Knowledge of DevOps practices including Git, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code
- Experience in application and infrastructure security best practices
- Demonstrated mentorship ability within technical teams
Qualifications
- Experience or strong interest in production AI/ML applications
