Job Description
Draftline India is hiring a Staff Full-Stack Engineer to focus on backend development for an AI and Web Analytics portal. The employer operates within the Growth Group of AB InBev, a global brewing company managing numerous beverage brands and digital products like the BEES e-commerce platform and delivery services. In this position, the professional will build and manage the application's backend services, API contracts, analytical data reading layers, access control, and integrations with AI agent tools. This is a hands-on individual contributor role on a small team consisting entirely of staff-level personnel, where architectural direction is handled by a staff architect.
The ideal candidate is an independent builder who enjoys taking features from design documents all the way to production. Most daily tasks involve writing, reviewing, and operating code, including user interfaces when necessary. The developer must prioritize performance, reliability, and observability from day one, while leveraging coding agent harnesses such as Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex in their routine workflow. Candidates must be fluent in English, with Spanish listed as a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, and maintain backend services while meeting latency, cost, and availability goals
- Establish and evolve versioned, typed API contracts without breaking client applications
- Manage authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant access control for the portal
- Develop and deliver end-to-end features spanning from the API to the user interface when required
- Integrate internal services and AI agent outputs, handling response streaming, cancellations, and partial failures
- Oversee the read path for analytical data, covering caching, batching, pagination, query plans, and data modeling
- Profile services, optimize request costs, and reduce tail latency metrics like p95 and p99
- Instrument services with structured logs, metrics, and distributed tracing, and participate in on-call duties
- Author design documents, assess alternatives using data and prototypes, and coordinate risks with the staff architect
Requirements
- Relevant experience designing, building, and operating production distributed backend services across the entire software lifecycle
- Demonstrated history of building and taking ownership of features end-to-end in production environments
- Experience in software design focused on scalability and reliability for new and existing systems
- Advanced proficiency in at least one high-performance programming language such as Go, Rust, Java/Kotlin, C#, or C++
- Practical working capability in Python
- Hands-on production experience with observability tools and concepts including metrics, tracing, logging, SLOs, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana
- Proven background in performance optimization, caching strategies, load testing, and profiling
- Production familiarity with distributed systems concepts such as retries, timeouts, idempotency, streaming via WebSockets or SSE, and tail latency management
- Practical experience delivering full-stack applications to production using TypeScript alongside a modern web framework
- Familiarity with coding agent harnesses like Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex, alongside critical review of generated code
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or another quantitative discipline
- Master's degree or PhD
- Background working with analytical data serving layers such as columnar stores, OLAP, or semantic layers, or integrating data platforms
- Experience consuming and integrating LLM or agent services into applications
- Background working with multi-tenant, multi-country, or B2B products
- Familiarity with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus containers and Kubernetes
- Advanced communication in Spanish
