Job Description

The Data Products group focuses on three core areas: dashboard and reporting frameworks, internal data ingestion from third-party tools into a knowledge graph, and external ingestion to make data consumable outside the product via marketplaces and APIs. Your day-to-day work will involve architecting data pipelines, integrating external business contexts, and setting operational standards across GitLab.com, Dedicated, and Self-Managed environments. You will also act as a multiplier by mentoring senior and intermediate engineers, streamlining internal processes, and driving execution velocity across multiple cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Architect ingestion, modeling, and synchronization for GitLab and third-party data into a real-time development ecosystem knowledge graph
Lead integrations with external business context systems such as Jira, Zendesk, ServiceNow, and observability platforms
Design the Data Marketplace to allow customers to consume GitLab data through Snowflake, Databricks, and BigQuery
Publish GitLab observability metrics using OpenTelemetry and manage data-sharing APIs
Establish operational readiness standards for deployments across GitLab.com, Dedicated, and Self-Managed platforms
Partner with Product, Design, and graph backend engineering teams to translate ambiguous problem spaces into structured roadmaps
Resolve cross-functional dependencies across the graph backend, AI Platform, and Infrastructure teams
Mentor senior and intermediate engineering staff through code reviews, pairing sessions, and design evaluations

Requirements

Demonstrated background as a Staff engineer owning product or platform systems end-to-end across multiple teams
Strong full-stack technical proficiency in Go, Ruby, and Node
Specialized experience in at least one area including analytics platforms, graph data systems, change data capture, or warehouse integration
Hands-on background in constructing production AI-powered tool orchestration
Experience managing multi-tenant systems across both SaaS and self-managed deployments
