Job Description
This full-time Staff Machine Learning Manager role in Bengaluru builds the machine learning function for Accelerate, a marketing platform run by InMobi. The manager covers the full ML arc, from charting the roadmap and hiring the team to getting models live in production. The posting describes a new build rather than an inherited system, with cross-channel intelligence that optimizes marketing spend as the intended core strength.
Planned workstreams include an engine that splits a brand's total budget across channels to raise overall return on ad spend, bid and pacing optimization across ad platforms, multi-touch attribution backed by incrementality tests, forecasting with anomaly alerts, audience segmentation and lookalike modeling, and estimates of creative performance before launch.
The manager reports to engineering leadership and works alongside product, data engineering and the current platform team. Production data already arrives from major ad platforms, so modeling starts from live inputs. The manager designs systems, reviews model code, coaches engineers and makes tooling decisions.
Applicants should bring 8 or more years in ML or data science, including at least one year leading or managing a team that shipped models. Expertise across optimization, recommenders, time-series work, causal inference, reinforcement learning or auction-based ML is needed. Handling messy data and connecting offline metrics to business results matter, and an ad tech or marketing technology background is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
- Define the ML strategy and roadmap for the Accelerate platform
- Build and lead the ML team, including hiring and mentoring engineers
- Design ML systems and review model code
- Develop budget allocation and bid optimization models across channels
- Build attribution models and incrementality testing frameworks
- Ship forecasting, anomaly detection, audience and creative performance models to production
Requirements
- 8 or more years in ML or data science
- One or more years leading a team or managing people while building and shipping ML systems
- Strong depth in one or more of: optimization, recommenders, forecasting of time series, causal inference, RL, or marketplace-style auction ML
- Production ML experience, including handling data quality problems
- Hands-on technical leadership, including architecture and code review
Qualifications
- Work on DSPs, ad platforms or marketing tech, especially bidding, budget splits, attribution, audiences or media mix models, would be a strong plus
